I went to Jared’s focus group tonight. I love doing research with people. Even the silly consent forms make me excited. It’s all so professional and respectable and I love people and knowing what they think. I think I want to do focus groups for my sociology senior project. They’re less intimidating than one on one and I can kill more birds with one stone. Not that I’m going to kill anyone. I just want to gather information that will be destroyed at the end of the research project.
At 7:00pm I had to leave for the Banya. Although it wasn’t so great tonight. I didn’t have a head wrap, so I think I got a little over heated and dehydrated. I spent a long time just sitting in the first room with fruit juice, talking to people. Naked.
Dear friends and stalkers, I regretfully inform you that I have just made the executive decision to only bring my computer to the school on Mondays and Wednesdays. This is to save my poor new bag, not to mention my already crooked back, from the stress of bursting at the seams and being lugged all over Prospecta Gargarina. Standing for 20mins on a crowded bus in the morning, as you might expect, is not a good way to start the day. Now I understand how most of the world gets where the need to get every morning. We have it so good with our individual cars in the US. I mean except for the fact our grandchildren are going to have skin cancer because there won’t be any ozone layer left for when they have to walk to work because motor vehicle engines can no longer run under the extreme temperatures caused by the melted ice caps. Maybe they’ll sail everywhere. Meanwhile, the poor babushkas will be saying, “And I remember when we had wonderful contraptions called ‘marsh routes’ that used to take me to the university every morning. It only took 20 minutes in those days!”
It’s been a long day. I should go to sleep. Tomorrow is International Woman’s Day! Well, international in the “Internationale” Soviet sense. What a great day. “If only we celebrated women 364 more days a year,” says Harley.
