Yesterday Mama and I went to Church of Christ the Savior, my favorite собор в Руссии. The main hall was closed. I guess the smart thing would have been to look that up before we went. But I was going to be OK with any excuse to leave Pokrovsky at that point. We toured the museum and then went to Кофе Хауз. We decided to go back a different way, where we'd walk for 20 mins from the metro instead of taking the shuttle bus from the Сокол stop.

2 transfers, 3 lines, and 8 stops later we emerged into the sunlight and did not see the McDonalds that was to be Mama's point of reference. None the less, I was ecstatic about where we had found ourselves. I plan on going back there very soon. We called my dad for directions, still the walk took an hour. But I finally found a bit of Russia in Moscow.A 30 second walk from my front door is the walkway to Russia. It is a bridge that goes over a canal where boats pass through. We
go out there to watch as the sun sets sometimes.
I plan on beginning an intensive 2 week course in Russian next week. I'm also going to start tutoring a Turkish 4th grader in English two days a week. We're going to my dad's place in Ново this weekend, I believe. Mama had to sub today for 5th grade,
so I hung around school and read in the library all morning, then had lunch with Mama, came home and walked Xiao Mei, and read out on the deck. And then I uploaded pictures :-)Мир~*
