Today Mama and I were tourists big time and went on an International Womens Club tour to Novodavichy Women's Monastery and Cemetery. We got lost as soon as we got off the metro (big suprise), but it didn't take too long to spot the golden bell tower. It was supposed to get up to 27*C today! Stupid me wore a jacket and scarf that I ended up carrying most of the time. But it was soooo prettyful. They love flowers in Russia, something I kind
of really appreciate. This monastery is very old and historical and there is a lot more to the story than I can remember. I do remember that a lot of Peter the Great's sisters were sent there to be nuns because it was hard to find them husbands of right standing who wouldn't take them away to Europe. And it was able to remain a practicing church during the Communist era. And St. Sofia lived in a tower and if you touch the outside of the tower (and you're a woman) you're supposed to have good luck in marriage and motherhood. All the women there were already married, so I was elected to try to touch the outside, but I was kind of embaressed about the whole thing, so I declined. Plus there were bars on the window. And I think I'll just trust God for that sort of thing. We went to the Cemetery there where Yeltsin was recently buried. There are all kinds of famous artists, merchants, politicians, and military figures buried there, including Bulgakov, Gogol, Kruschev, Gorbachov, and Chekov.

On Monday it's BACK TO SCHOOL SCHOOL SCHOOL! Ah I miss the RSP kids... and watching Russian MTV c themами... Russian language exam at 9am and then start class. One the same day I begin Historic Christian Belief and my books (ahem) have not yet arrived.
Tonight Mama and I are going to make an apple pie :-D
